Frank Opondo is the Governor of Kericho Prison in Kenya. Kericho holds inmates who are suitable for open conditions and farm-work, where Frank has been the officer in charge for the past 7 years.
He was nominated by the Commissioner General of Prisons in Kenya to take a secondment course in the UK following his ‘outstanding’ work as a change agent in Kenyan Prisons.
Frank’s relationship with APP led him to visit the UK as a secondee in 2017 where he stayed for 3 months, observing the practices of UK prisons.
This equipped him with the skills needed to roll out new initiatives such as visitation rooms, which provide those within prison with a neutral space in which they are able to receive visits from family and friends.
